This engine protection is an absolute revolution!
The "Expedition XL" provides optimal protection all around due to its extended design. Starting in front of the engine, it extends in one piece almost to the rear wheel, thus protecting even the catalytic converter. No matter where an obstacle strikes, the "Expedition XL" engine protection is there to do its job for you and your GS!
But that's not all!
An additional, cleverly designed support between the frame and the engine protection at the rear ensures maximum stability and durability, even under the toughest conditions.
Touratech has placed great emphasis on stability and functionality.
Larger damages such as holes in the engine block can be effectively avoided by the large Touratech engine protection.
For the highest stability, the multiple angled recesses in the 4mm thick aluminum base plate play a key role, while the force of an impact is distributed over 6 mounting points thanks to an additional lower stainless steel mounting plate on the engine. The ground clearance is not restricted by these two base plates.
Additionally, plastic rails at the lower part of the base plate ensure that the already recessed screw heads are completely covered. This allows the engine protection to be easily disassembled even after a heavy off-road use.
Last but not least, the plastic rails facilitate "sliding over" stones, rocks, or tree stumps.
Almost incidentally, they also prevent dirt from settling.
